Ingredients:
- Toor dal (Split pigeon peas) – 1 cup
- Chana dal (Split chickpeas) – 1/4 cup
- Urad dal (Split black gram) – 1/4 cup
- Dried red chilies – 8-10 (adjust based on your spice preference)
- Cumin seeds – 1 tablespoon
- Garlic cloves – 3-4 (optional, but it adds a lovely depth!)
- Asafoetida (Hing) – a pinch (for that umami aroma)
- Salt – to taste
